There are many ways to get involved with the Magnes!

Intern

An internship at the Magnes is a great way to earn academic credits or to gain experience in the arts and the non-profit arena. High school, college, and graduate students interested in museum studies, art, Jewish studies, non-profit development, marketing, management, libraries and archives are encouraged to contact the Magnes at magnes@library.berkeley.edu.

Volunteer

Volunteering is an exciting way to get involved with the Magnes. We are currently recruiting volunteers in preperation for our opening in January to to provide on-going support for exhibitions and special events. Days and hours are flexible to meet individual needs. New volunteers are welcome throughout the year. No art background is required. All training will be provided. Types of Volunteer Jobs

  • Host at The Magnes Grand Opening and other special receptions.
  • Staff The Information Desk
  • Assist with Magnes events
    • Help with The Magnes Open House event on January 22nd, 2012
    • Welcome visitors to the galleries
    • Usher/take tickets at lectures and special events
    • Possibly lead tours to visiting groups
  • Assist with mailing announcements, newsletters, etc.
    • Coordinate volunteers for Art Center-sponsored events
    • Plan trips and tours
    • Decorate for events
    • Lead adult tours
    • Make signs

The Magnes frequently engages interns and volunteers, with a wide scope of available projects. Provide a copy of your resume and a detailed letter outlining your interests and in which area you would like to contribute and gain experience.
