Join the Magnes for an exclusive concert at Ann Hamilton’s Acoustic Tower Project at the Oliver Ranch.
In 2007, the Judah L. Magnes Museum and guest curator Lawrence Rinder invited Shahrokh Yadegari to compose a digital sound installation to commemorate Cantor Reuben R. Rinder (1887-1966) of Congregation Emanu-El. The composition, Through Music, was inspired by Cantor Rinder’s archive, which is a part of the museum’s holdings. Please click here to watch the video about this beautiful composition.
On July 12, Shahrokh Yadegari will lead a group of renowned musicians in the first live performance of Through Music, the composition commissioned by the Judah L. Magnes Museum. Through Music blends diverse elements including a melody from one of Cantor Rinder's scores, text from the ancient Jewish priestly benediction and poems by the Sufi philosopher Rumi, along with classical Persian and electronic music and lyrics in Hebrew, Persian and English.
