Jewish Digital Narratives
The Jewish Digital Narratives of the Magnes explore the networks of Jewish life in California and the Global Diaspora by making a creative (and at times unintended) use of current technologies and social networking tools to organize, showcase and share what the Magnes has collected in almost half a century.

Journeys East: Patterns of Collecting
A significant component of the Magnes's collection is its holdings in Jewish material culture from the exotic Jewish communities of North Africa, India, and the former Ottoman Empire. With grant funding from the Museum Loan Network, these unique objects were researched as part of the Magnes's multi-year Collection Access Project, which enabled the Magnes to dramatically improve the care, interpretation, and exhibition of the permanent collection. Many of these objects were displayed within the Journeys East exhibition, which featured newly documented oral histories with the collectors of these rare artifacts. Collections on Flickr
The photo sharing website Flickr has proved to be a valuable resource for encouraging dialog and interaction with public photo collections. Taking it one step further, the Magnes has launched a series of Flickr presentations designed to engage audiences and foster discussion about Magnes collections.

What is Twitter? Twitter is a site that allows you to post news and updates, called tweets, up to 140 characters in length. You may receive tweets through an RSS feed or on your mobile phone, or you may send your own tweets on the web or through your phone as a text message. Magnes posts links to news articles, updates about what's going on in the building, and basically anything we can think of... so long as it's 140 characters or fewer! Magnes now has a YouTube channel! In addition to the videos posted to Fora.tv, we also upload videos of our public programs and productions. Click here to view our video content.
