DOCENT TOURS Docents engage visitors with exhibitions through visual thinking and interactive dialogue. Strengthen your powers of observation and witness the material culture of Jewish life through art and artifacts in Magnes galleries. Magnes visitors can join free docent-led tours most Sunday afternoons, beginning at 2PM. Private group tours can be scheduled for any time during our open hours. Tour Schedule March - June, 2008: March 9, 2008 March 16, 2008 March 23, 2008 April 6, 2008 April 20, 2008 - Museum Closed for Passover April 27, 2008 May 4, 2008 May 11, 2008 June 15, 2008 June 22, 2008 DOCENT TRAINING Wanted: Curious, Creative Consumers of Culture Magnes Docents are trained volunteers educators who engage with visitors to interpret Magnes exhibitions. Training includes collections overviews of Jewish material culture, current inquiry-based touring techniques consistent with contemporary museum standards, and resources for object-based learning. Docents who successfully complete training receive the following benefits: - reduced membership rates as museum educators
- priority access to public programs featuring regional and national artists and scholars
- continuing education opportunities in museum education
