Allyson Metzler

Administrative Assistant (2014-2015)

Allyson joins The Magnes after recently completing her Masters degree in Museum Studies at the San Francisco State University. She brings with her significant experience working in museums and archives throughout the Bay Area, including the De Young Museum, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks archives.

Arielle Tonkin

Programs Coordinator (2013-2015)

Arielle Tonkin is an artist and an educator. She holds a combined B.A. in Conflict Studies and Visual Arts from Boston University, and a 2012 fellowship from Yeshivat Hadar in NYC, studying Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic legal texts. Her research explores the role of community arts programming as a mediation tool in cities of ethno-religious conflict.

Jamie Henderson

Events Coordinator

Jamie Henderson will receive her MA/MBA in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University Summer 2014. She received her undergraduate degree from SDSU majoring in History with an emphasis in Europe during the great wars. Much of Jamie's work experience includes restaurant management, as well as working at the World of Wonders Science Museum in Lodi, California and interning at Balboa Park.

Gary Handman

Public Services Coordinator

Gary Handman was the Public Services Coordinator at the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life in 2013-2016. His previous professional position was Director of the Media Resources Center, Moffitt Library, University of California Berkeley, one of the largest and most respected video collections in a U.S. academic library.  Gary held this position for close to 35 years, until his retirement in 2012.

Britta Kolb

Marketing and Communications Coordinator (2012-2014)

Britta Kolb, MA, coordinates advertisements, general marketing, inquiries from the public, the University, and provides development and administrative support. Britta also maintains the facility and serves as communications liaison between The University of California Berkeley's Bancroft Library and outside vendors.  

Britta received her Master of Arts in Museum Studies at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art (emphasis in Painting) and Art History from The College of St. Benedict/St.John's University in Minnesota. 

Eva Gurevich

Curatorial Intern (2010-2011) and Programs Coordinator (2011-2012)

Eva Gurevich volunteered as a Curatorial Intern in 2010-2011, and later was the Programs and Events Coordinator at The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life in 2011-2012, when she oversaw the opening of the new facility, as well as the planning of programs and events, space rentals and volunteer recruiting and  training. Previously, Eva was the Gallery Coordinator at the Contra Costa JCC in Walnut Creek, and is a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute in Photography.
